The Rotary Club of Parker is a member of the Parker Chamber of Commerce.  It would be great to have Parker Rotary Club members attend different activities offered by the Parker Chamber. Your attendance will be to represent the Rotary Club of Parker and not your own business.  Would you be interested in attending any of the following? Email Kam to have your name and email added to the Parker Chamber email blast list.
Women’s Forum – 8:30 – 10:00 a.m. 3rd Wednesday each month at a different business.  30 second elevator speech about Rotary.  Light breakfast & Networking.

TOWN of PARKER CIVIC ACADEMY 2016

The Town of Parker's 11-week Civic Academy returns this fall, and the application process is now open! Participants will learn what it takes to build, grow and maintain a community. From Town infrastructure to innovative ways of maximizing tax dollars, attendees get a first-hand look at how their local government operates. The academy will be held on Wednesday nights from 5:30 to 8 p.m. at various Town facilities. Classes will run from Sept. 7 through Nov. 9, with a graduation ceremony on Nov. 21. 
This informational program is provided at the direction of Town Council and Administration and encourages Parker residents to participate in local issues with the goal of improving the understanding and awareness of how local government works.

Topics that will be covered in this year’s academy include: 
  • Knowing Your Community (presented by the Office of the Town Administrator)
  • Town Tour and Question & Answer Session with Town Council 
  • Building a Community (presented by the Community Development and Economic Development Departments) 
  • Caring for a Community and Equipment Demonstration (presented by the Public Works and Engineering Departments)
  • Financing a Community (presented by the Finance Department)
  • Living the Hometown Feel (presented by the Parks, Recreation, and Open Space and Communications Departments)
  • Partners with Parker (presented by Parker Water and Sanitation District, South Metro Fire, Douglas County and Douglas County Libraries)
  • Protecting a Community (presented by the Police Department)
  • Involving Your Community (presented by the Municipal Court)
  • Creativity in a Community (presented by the Cultural Department)

Ms. Cardon's bio. as appearing on GOCO's website reads:
 
Laura fell in love with Colorado after moving to Denver from her home state of Maryland in 2013. Prior to joining GOCO in 2014, she worked at an equestrian public relations agency with a focus on international equestrian competitions and freelancing for top industry publications. Outside of the office, Laura enjoys hiking, riding her horse, and volunteering at the Denver Animal Shelter.

The Parker Wine Walk.  The GOLDEN EAGLE CONCERT BAND  will be playing at the WALK .  The “walk” is a fun Parker business event and many of club members attend .   Hank Coll suggests that all Rotarians who can attend wear their Rotary shirt at this event.

This year's picnic will be held at Bayou Gulch Regional Park, 4815 Fox Sparrow Road, Parker, beginning at 1:30 pm.  
Main dish will be supplied, plus beverages, plates, napkins and flatware.
Please bring a dish to share.
Please let Sue Gardner (geerevsue@gmail.com) know if you will attend and how
many guests you plan to invite.

Our morning meeting will be at Reuter-Hess reservoir.
Breakfast burritos will be provided.  You are asked to bring your own lawn chair and
cup of coffee. A sign up sheet will be passed around at the beginning of Aug.

The Christmas Party is scheduled for the Colorado Golf Club.
