TOWN of PARKER CIVIC ACADEMY 2016
The Town of Parker's 11-week Civic Academy returns this fall, and the application process is now open! Participants will learn what it takes to build, grow and maintain a community. From Town infrastructure to innovative ways of maximizing tax dollars, attendees get a first-hand look at how their local government operates. The academy will be held on Wednesday nights from 5:30 to 8 p.m. at various Town facilities. Classes will run from Sept. 7 through Nov. 9, with a graduation ceremony on Nov. 21.
This informational program is provided at the direction of Town Council and Administration and encourages Parker residents to participate in local issues with the goal of improving the understanding and awareness of how local government works.
Topics that will be covered in this year’s academy include:
- Knowing Your Community (presented by the Office of the Town Administrator)
- Town Tour and Question & Answer Session with Town Council
- Building a Community (presented by the Community Development and Economic Development Departments)
- Caring for a Community and Equipment Demonstration (presented by the Public Works and Engineering Departments)
- Financing a Community (presented by the Finance Department)
- Living the Hometown Feel (presented by the Parks, Recreation, and Open Space and Communications Departments)
- Partners with Parker (presented by Parker Water and Sanitation District, South Metro Fire, Douglas County and Douglas County Libraries)

- Involving Your Community (presented by the Municipal Court)
- Creativity in a Community (presented by the Cultural Department)
