This weeks's meeting will feature speaker Sandy Ronayne who will speak on "Women in the Civil War."
Sandy has been an avid, addicted family historian since 2000. She grew up in a military family – her father was an Air Force pilot and commander. Sandy has identified ancestors and family members who served as US military personnel from the Revolutionary War through the Iraq War.
Sandy is the immediate past president of the Colorado Genealogical Society. She has also served as president of the CGS/Computer Interest Group, vice-president/program chair of the Wales Ireland Scotland England (WISE) Family History Society, and is a director at large of the Colorado Chapter of Palatines to America. She is also a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, the Daughters of the Union 1861 – 1865, and the Society of Civil War Families of Ohio.
The Rocky Vista University RCC held its first meeting today after students have returned to campus from summer break.
The meeting was attended by 13 medical students and Rotarians Jane Johnson and Julie Rosenthal.
The primary topic of discussion at the meeting was the upcoming MASH (Medical Academy of Science and Health) Camp to be held on the RVU campus on the weekend of September 17 & 18. The camp will be open to local high school students who are in AP or Honors science courses or who have a letter or recommendation from a faculty member. RVU/RCC President, Spencer Hill, along with another member or two, will attend our Rotary meeting either this week or next to tell us more about MASH Camp. The RCC will ask Rotarians to consider sponsoring a scholarship to cover the application fee ($45) for those students who can't afford it. Stay tuned for more information!

Open World Delegation
As you know, from September 10-18 we host a Delegation from Ukraine under the US Sponsored program called "Open World". There will be 5 DELEGATES plus an accompany travel facilitator and an interpreter for a total of 7 people. The topic and interest of the 5 Delegates is "EFFICIENCY" (energy, planning, sustainability, alternative & clean energy, implementation, technical solutions, ideas, visions, etc.). This group will be kindly hosted in some of our Rotarian homes, BUT they will be here to follow and fully participate to a specific 'working program", which has been carefully designed for the 5 Delegates and not for the facilitator and/or the interpreter.
When the program is finalized, I will send it out together with an RSVP note for each activity (presentation, visit, excursion, etc.) in this program. I then kindly ask you to reply to this RSVP to confirm your participation to each daily activity and working presentation/visit we will have. We are requested to submit the exact number of participants and your cooperation is a "must".
Thank you for actively participating to this exciting program and for the sure welcoming this international delegation will receive from Rotarians in our Club.
