Straight out of Boston College, Megan began her career volunteering as a Jesuit volunteer at a homeless shelter for families with children in Mesa, AZ. She spent two years providing case management to help families experiencing homelessness achieve self-sufficiency.

After two years Megan moved to Los Angeles, CA to attain her Master’s degree in school counseling. Immediately out of graduate school she was employed by the Los Angeles Unified School District as a middle school counselor. She highly enjoyed working for the Los Angeles Unified School District and appreciated its great diversity and strong social connections with community partners. Once she decided to start her own family they decided to move to beautiful Colorado and start their family.

After 17 years of staying at home with her children, Megan decided to jump back into the workforce as a Counselor For Prevention for Douglas County School District. She LOVED being a prevention counselor and really enjoyed building close relationships with the students she worked with.

Four year into this position when the McKinney Vento Coordinator position became available, she jumped at the opportunity to meld her background in social work with school counseling. She explains it is beyond rewarding to help families and students access education and connect them with community support to achieve self-sufficiency, find permanent housing and realize their dreams.
