Motivation in the Morning
We had the privilege of hearing from author and motivational speaker Debra Fine at our November 21 meeting.  Debra spoke on, and exemplified, The Fine Art of Small Talk.  If you want more tips, check out her books The Fine Art of Small Talk, The Fine Art of The Big Talk and Beyond Texting: Face-to-Face Communication for Teens.

Don’t let the State of the Town get lost in the holiday bustle!  This is the big fundraising event that makes so many of our activities possible.  Thank you for the surge of pledges that came in this week.  There is still plenty of time to solicit sponsors for the event on February 26, 2020.

Reminder that if you want to take part in the gift exchange at the Holiday party on December 5, bring your wrapped gift to the party.  The gift should be valued under $20, preferably consumable and fun!  Not a white elephant.

Gift cards for the Parker Task Force.  Li Pettett reminds us that we have collected gift cards for clients of the Parker Task Force, typically for grocery stores or big box stores such as Wal-Mart or Target, in $25 or $50 denominations.  Please bring the cards to the Holiday Party on December 5, or the meeting on December 12.  Thank you for your generous support of those in need in our community.

We have received an urgent request from the Town of Parker asking for our support for the upcoming Annual Christmas Carriage Parade on Saturday, 14 December 2019.  Brooke Spain, the town's event coordinator, has indicated that they could really use some help with street closure and parade route marshals.  The parade begins at 12:00 PM.

Brooke has asked that Rotary volunteers sign up online.  Click here to be directed to the signup page.  Once you are signed up, Brooke will send out event day communications, parking passes and instructions to everyone.  Mike Endres will bring the Rotary vests.

Please feel free to contact Brooke Spain, Special Events & Sponsorship Coordinator, with any questions: bspain@parkeronline.org or (303) 805-3253.  Also let Mike Endres know if you will be volunteering: (720) 352-4227,  endresm2009@gmail.com. Our Club has supported this annual Parker community event in the past, including last year. Please consider donating a couple hours of your time to this enjoyable event - it's a great way to provide visibility for our Club!  (The photo is from the 2010 Carriage Parade, and the mini horse is named Tater Tot.)

Save the date!  The Parker Rotary Community Corps (RCC) for disabled teens and adults is celebrating its 10-year anniversary on Tuesday, January 14, 2020 from 5:30-8:00 p.m. at Ave Maria Catholic Church.  Mark the date on your calendar – you are welcome to join in their celebration, or there will be opportunities for us to help out with setup and cleanup.  Click here for more information.

Liz Volz invites us to donate professional clothing that we no longer use to “Law Suits,” which provides this professional attire to high school students who will be participating in moot court in February 2020.  Please contact Liz at lizvolz@comcast.net if you have any questions.
