This Sunday!  Let's Help Taylor Help Animals

Taylor Winders, daughter of member Kyle Winders, is hosting a fundraiser at the fire station in the Pinery (8165 N Pinery Parkway, Parker) on Sunday, August 27 from 10:00 a.m. – noon.  Here’s her message from this morning:

My name is Taylor Winders and I love charity, so I created a lemonade stand and this is what I came up with:

My lemonade stand has all sorts of things for sale including lemonade, cookie bars, puppy chow, popcorn, and hand made clay models. All homemade too! The lemonade stand is also a charity, with most of the profits going to the animal shelter, Pepper’s Senior Sanctuary.

My last donation raised $508 for a shelter called From Forgotten to Forever.  Now I am donating to Pepper's Senior Sanctuary. This charity will be at the Pinery Fire Station from 10:00 - 12:00. This will be on Sunday morning 8/27/23!

I hope to see you there!

Project C.U.R.E. – Monday, October 23, 6:00-8:00 p.m.

We’re finally back on track to volunteer once a month sorting medical supplies at Project C.U.R.E.  Mark your calendars for the fourth Monday of the month, from 6:00-8:00 p.m.  No medical experience is required – just the ability to recognize that one item is the same as another.  Click here to register online for the October sorting.  Questions?  Contact Tricia Fahey at tfahey661@gmail.com .

5th Thursday Social

Our club has the tradition of having a social event rather than a morning meeting on the fifth Thursday of any month that has 5 Thursdays.  Join us at the Hickory House on August 31, 2023 for our 5th Thursday social event!  Family are welcome, too.  Click here to register yourself and any guests, or email Kelly Young to let her know you are coming.  Attendees will be responsible for their own bills.

Help Grant a Child's Wish -- Let's Fill the Claw Machine!

We had a presentation from Make a Wish Colorado a few weeks ago.  Now we have the opportunity to contribute to their mission of granting a child's wish.

There is a claw machine at the offices of Make a Wish where kids who are there to discuss their wish have the chance to ease the visit by choosing a toy from the machine.  We get to help fill the machine with toys for kids of all ages.  Need ideas?  Check out the photo above!  The only criteria is that the claw in this machine is not huge, so the toys have to be from 3"-6" wide.

Last chance -- Bring your contributions to the Rotary meeting on September 21.  Let's fill their claw machine to overflowing!

Questions?  Contact Sue Garwood.

Play Ball!  We're Watching the Rockies and Fighting Polio

What a fun way to support Rotary's polio eradication efforts! Mike Oldham will organize ordering the tickets for club members, families and friends to attend the baseball game Rockies vs. the World Champion Texas Rangers on Sunday, May 12, starting at 1:10 p.m.  Tickets are $33.00 in Section 144 this year;  $5.00 of each discounted ticket goes to polio eradication.  Please let Mike Oldham know how many tickets you would like!

In Memoriam -- Carl Hanson

Jim Muir reminds us that there will be a memorial service for Carl Hanson, co-founder of Praying Hands Ranch and an honorary member of the Rotary Club of Parker, on Monday, September 18 at 2:30 p.m. at Parker Evangelical Presbyterian Church.  Please let Jim know if you plan to attend -- the family would like an idea of how many to expect.

Double-Header for the Task Force

We took part in TWO projects during the week of August 14 to support the Parker Task Force.

First, on Wednesday, August 16 a crew helped pack meals that will eventually serve 4000 people.  Here is part of the crew dressed in our protective finery!

Then on Saturday, we were stationed at the King Soopers at Stonegate to solicit contributions to the food drive.  The final tally for our location was

  • 62 boxes of food
  • $442 in cash and $145 in gift cards
  • 28 packages of chicken
  • 52 packages of hamburger
  • 21 gallons of milk
Thank you to all who helped on that hot day!  And thank you to the Parker community for your generosity in supporting the Parker Task Force.
