A Deluge of Birthday Wishes
Irv Buck will be celebrating his 86th birthday on Saturday, August 8.  His wife, Kathy, has asked that we send him birthday wishes at Morningstar.  Kathy writes, "He has saved every card that he has received in the past...I know that he’d love an assortment of cards rather than one signed by many.  He has such fond memories of Rotary and has enjoyed all of the friendships...."  Let's flood Irv's room with cards!

Doing Our Duty

We have set up duty rosters on our website for August, September and October, one month at a time.  Now you can sign up for a meeting task right on the website!

Here is how club members can access the duty rosters:

  • Locate the box on the Home page of the website (www.parkerrotary.org) called Meeting Duty Rosters. It appears immediately below the Welcome to the Rotary Club of Parker.

  • Click on the link for a month to go to that duty roster

  • Once you are on a duty roster, scroll down to the date/task that you wish to sign up for.  You can see if a task is already taken.  To sign up, just click on the Sign Up button on the right side of the task.  You will get a confirming email when your signup is complete.

My thanks to each of you --

Mike Oldham

Club Service Director, 2020-2021

A Thank-You from Parker Adventist Hospital

The club received this thank-you note from Parker Adventist Hospital for our financial contributions this spring:

Dear Gail,
As part of our Parker Hospital Foundation family, I wanted to share this special thank you message with you. For many of us, this year has been nothing like we expected, so far. And so many of you stepped up in such a big way to help us continue providing incredible care to our patients, while staying safe and being cared for by YOU.
Thank you, and enjoy this video message from our hospital CEO!

Positions Open -- Rotary Club of Parker
We have three current opportunities in our Club for Rotarians who would like to serve as our
  • Public Relations Director
  • Vocational Services Director
  • Membership Chair.
Each of these positions represent important functions that support our Club’s missions to serve our community, to promote Rotary and the Four-Way Test, and to grow our Club’s reputation and membership.

Every member of our Club should consider themselves “eligible” for these positions whether you are one of our long-time members or a new member.  We all have valuable talents and skills to contribute.

If I’ve piqued your interest, please feel free to reach out to me, or our President-elect Jim Muir, with any questions or to throw your hat in the ring.

District 5450 Conference -- Virtual
This year's District Conference will be held virtually on Saturday, August 29 from 9:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m.  This will be a great opportunity to exchange ideas about how we can best live out our motto of Service Above Self in these unique circumstances.  Check out this link on the District website for more information: https://portal.clubrunner.ca/50085/Event/2020-virtual-district-conference

A group of Rotarians was able to get together in person to launch a project to refurbish the garden at Praying Hands Ranch, a therapeutic riding center.  Judging by the amount of debris that was generated, the work mornings were a great success!  See the before and after photos below.  Thank you to Ron Sorlein for organizing the event.
