Grocery Shopping, and More Ways to Donate to the Foundation!

Yes, you can help the Foundation by your grocery shopping!  See more information below.

The Foundation of the Rotary Club of Parker is where most of the funding comes from to support the club’s service projects.  (We can also receive grants from the District and from Rotary International, depending on the nature of the project.) The Foundation is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit Colorado corporation.

There are many ways you can support the Foundation and therefore support our service projects:

  • Participate in the club’s fundraising activities, from State of the Town in May to the Palisade peach sales in August to Parker Uncorked Wine and Spirits Festival in October

  • Make a donation yourself to the Foundation

  • Donate a car to support the Foundation.  At our last meeting, Foundation Treasurer Dave Selden reported that we received our first funding from a donated car – thank you!

  • Link your store loyalty card (King Soopers and City Market) to the club so that as you shop the stores will donate money back to the linked organization.    For more information on how to link your card, click here.

For more information on supporting the Foundation, check out the club’s website at https://parkerrotary.org/page/rotary-club-of-parker-foundation.  This page also includes links to the current Foundation Board of Trustees and bylaws.

Welcome New Member Brad Hoetling!

From the left: mentor Greg Watanabe, Brad Hoetling, Gail Lehrmann

Brad Hoetling was introduced to the Rotary Club of Parker by his friend and previous mentee Justin Reyher.  Brad grew up in Westminster, participated in youth sports at a young age, and graduated from Westminster High School where he lettered in baseball, swimming, and soccer. Upon graduation from CSU (Bachelor of Business Admin – Finance and Real Estate), he moved to Minneapolis, MN and Madison, WI to begin his career as a real estate appraiser.  Brad opened two business in 2013; he is the sole proprietor appraising residential properties throughout the Denver Metro Area and Hoetling Real Estate Services, a property preservation company. As he is phasing out of some of these responsibilities, he is starting his own “handyman” business in the Parker area.

Our Club energy has appealed to Brad, and he is eager to get to know more Rotarians and work on projects in our community.

Rocky Mountain Honor Flight

We had a presentation from Keith Montey, Veteran Coordinator of Rocky Mountain Honor Fight on May 16.  Rotarian Ron Sorlien, a veteran of the Vietnam War, was able to take part in an Honor Flight in Fall 2023.  In addition, the club presented a check to Keith to support the work of Rocky Mountain Honor Fight.  Thank you for the ways that you honor our nation’s veterans!

Here’s a link to the video that we couldn’t get to run during the meeting: https://youtu.be/20FGqDNUX-U

Memorial Day Veterans' Service of Remembrance

Thank you to the Rotarians who attended this year's Memorial Day Veterans' Service of Remembrance at the Parker Cemetery and helped to pass out water.  Rotarian Steve Trevino and his wife Nanci were honored by Parker Mayor Jeff Toborg for their commitment over the past 15 years to create and sustain this commemoration.

¡Adios, Mario!

We bid farewell to our Rotary exchange student Mario Garcia Banon at our meeting on May 23.  And we thank the Dishong family for hosting Mario during his year at Ponderosa High School.  We wish you the best, Mario -- ¡buena suerte!

Epic Day of Service 2024

Saturday, May 18 was a glorious day in Colorado for Rotary clubs to participate in Rotary's Epic Day of Service.  The Rotary Club of Parker worked on several projects at the therapeutic riding center Affinity Ranch (formerly Praying Hands Ranch), including

  • painting a corral
  • maintaining the sensory garden, and
  • driving posts for a new fence.

Thank you to everyone who participated in the community service!  Click here for more images of Rotarians in action.
