Veterans Day Celebration

Mike Endres and Ben Martin led us through a beautiful commemoration of Veterans Day at our meeting on Thursday, November 7.

The two veteran members of the Rotary Club of Parker who were honored were Ron Sorlien and Bill Shriver.  Ron spoke to us about his experiences serving with the US Army in Vietnam, while Bill described a varied Army career that included a stint in Germany where he met his wife, Christine.

We had many family members and guests present, including Heather Ehle, Founder and CEO of Project Sanctuary and Chaplain (Major) Dave Nagel, Past President of the Colorado National Guard Foundation.  Mike presented checks to both Heather and Dave in support of their groups' work to support military families.

If you weren’t able to attend, here are links to some of the videos that were included in the presentation:

State of the Town -- Sponsorships
Alex Doyle provided an update on the state of the State of the Town.  We are off to a good start in gathering sponsorships for the event, but still have work to do to meet our goal of securing $70,000 in sponsorships.  Members, you have one week until Friday, November 15 to make your pledge to the State of the Town if you wish to receive the step-up.

Family of Rotary: Li Pettett reminds us to let her know of any concerns in the Rotary family so she can let the club know during meetings.  Li also coordinates the sending of cards of sympathy or encouragement.
