Rotarians Honor, Celebrate and Remember Our Veterans

Veteran's Day Program

"A VETERAN is someone who, at one point in his or her life, wrote a blank check made payable to the United States of America for an amount "up to and including my life."

Last week's meeting featured a wonderful Veterans Day program created by Rotarians Mike Endres and Ben Martin.  The somber and beautiful ceremony was MC'd by Rotarian Martin who set the tone with a heartfelt welcome.  Rotarian Bob Kramer led us in the Pledge of Allegiance.  Krista Joy Dalgardno, soloist at Southeast Christian Church, performed a beautiful rendition of the National Anthem.  Chaplain (Major) David Nagel gave the Invocation and asked for a moment of reflection.  He also provided the Benediction at the end of the ceremony.  Barry S. Oswell, Lieutenant Colonel, US Air Force (Retired) was our featured guest speaker and told us about his son who gave the ultimate sacrifice for our country.  Rotarian Martin provided the closing remarks and the program ended with a video with photos to the song "God Bless the USA."

Thank you to Rotarians Mike Endres and Ben Martin for the beautiful and moving ceremony that moved us and inspired us.  A special thank you to all of the members of our Club who have served our great nation.  These members and their families were recognized at the ceremony and include:

Lindy Blackburn, Mike Endres, Carl Finamore, Ben Martin, David Selden, Bill Shriver, and Steve Small

Larry Brutlag, Irv Buck, Rick Chase, Hank Coll, Dave Gardner, Steve Gilbert, Scott Gough, Lew Million, Mark Scheuneman, and Wayne Wagener

Bill Gripman, Carl Hanson, Bill Kelly, Bob Kramer, Bob Satrom, and Tom Vanderheiden

Thank You All For Your Service!

Remembering a Local Legend

Nancy Gripman's legacy will live on in Parker for generations to come.  She has impacted many through her boundless energy, love and compassion.  From the founding of the Parker Task Force to developing the community garden near the Senior Center to the many other "special projects" that she brought to fruition, Parker is a better place because Nancy lived.
As a tribute, Nancy was awarded the Impact Award posthumously, which was accepted by her husband, Bill.  A dedication ceremony for the installation of the sculpture of her likeness was held in O'Brien Park.
