2018 Rotary Club of Parker Veterans Day Program - Thursday, 8 November 2018

Boondocks Food & Fun
 
You are cordially invited to join us for the 2018 Rotary Club of Parker Veterans Day Program as we honor our military veterans and recognize our club’s rich heritage of military service to our great nation.  The program will begin at 0700 hours (7:00am) at Boondocks Food & Fun, located at 18706 Cottonwood Drive, Parker 80138 – adjacent to Costco.  The formal program should conclude by 0815 hours (8:15am).
 
Please feel free to invite family & friends – particularly veterans.  All military veterans attending the program will be recognized for their service.
 
We invite you to come dressed for this special occasion with your military uniform items or other military/branch of service apparel.
 
We also encourage you to bring your items of military memorabilia as well as photos of yourself during your military service.  We will have tables set up to display & share your military keepsakes & photos.
 
Put this special event on your calendar now for November 8th – we’re sure you won’t want to miss it!
Chaparral Student of the Month, Joshua Morris
Joshua Morris was honored by the Rotary Club of Parker as their October Chaparral Student of the Month.  Joshua is the Senior Class President and has a grade point average of 4.0.  He is a member of DECA and has lettered academically all 4 years at Chaparral. 
 
Chaparral High School Social Studies teacher, Kathy Gappinger, says among other things, “ that Josh has demonstrated incredible work ethic, professionalism, compassion and great follow through.  His passion for learning and helping the community are tow qualities that make him very unique.”
District 5450 Sandy Mortensen
It was a pleasure to host and hear Sandy Mortensen our Rotary District 5450 District Governor 2018-2019 at our meeting this week.  Sandy is  a 25-year member of the Rotary Club of Summit County.  Sandy has served in many capacities in her Club and with the District Visioning Team.  Sandy showed us how energized and compassionate she is about Rotary.  She is an inspiration to all who have the privilege to hear her speak.

5th Thursday Happy Hour at Takoda Tavern
It's almost time for Rotary's next 5th Thursday Happy Hour!  It will be Thursday, November 29th from 6-8pm at the Takoda Tavern.    12311 Pine Bluffs Way, Parker, CO 80134.  They have a full menu to order drinks and food from.

Holiday Party
 
The Parker Rotary Club Winter Holiday Party will be held Thursday, December 6, at the Black Bear Golf Club, 11400 Canterberry Parkway, Parker CO 80138. 
Cocktails and appetizers 6-7pm, dinner at 7pm.  

Dinner choices:
A) Seared beef tenderloin filet with Truffle Demi Glace
B) Grill salmon with Port Wine and Pine Nut Reduction 
C) Vegetarian option.
