Important Open World Announcement!!!

The Rotary Club of Parker is honored to have been chosen again to host an international delegation of young professionals from Uzbekistan.  The Open World program is sponsored by the U.S. Bipartisan Congressional Office for International Leadership (COIL).  As in the past, we need to host six individuals in three homes (each to have their own bedroom).  The dates are April 26 through May 4, 2024.   The host family’s responsibility will only be to accommodate them for spending the night and taking them in the morning to a meeting location in the Parker area (to be determined).

The International Committee, led by Alvaro Pisoni, will design a high-level professional program with visits and meetings under the theme of Tourism Development.

We would appreciate your participation in service for this project.  Please contact Janice Beller (housing coordinator) at  janicebeller@aol.com or 303-841-4176, if you are able to host, by January 15, 2024.

Director Needed -- Youth Services

The club needs a director to oversee the Youth Services activities for the coming 2024-2025 Rotary year.  If you might be interested in taking on this role, please contact Sue Garwood.

Ring in the Season!

Members of the Rotary Club of Parker are helping support the Salvation Army this holiday season by ringing the bell outside of a local grocery store.  Dress warmly, everyone!  Thank you to the Parker community for your ongoing support.

A Festival of Trees

The Rotary Club of Parker contributed a tree to Cimarron Middle School's Festival of Trees fundraiser on December 2.  This tree reflects two of Rotary's areas of focus: saving mothers and children and supporting education.  Thank you to Rotarians Sue Garwood and Kelly Young for putting this tree together!

Spreading Cheer

Santa and Mrs. Claus and motley crew of elves went visiting this week.  Rotarians do their work in a huge range of disguises!  Santa, Mrs. Claus and the elves came from both the Rotary Club of Parker and the Cherry Creek Valley Rotary Club of Parker (aka the noon club).

Thanksgiving at the Denver Indian Center

Several Rotarians traveled to the Denver Indian Center the week of November 13 to help pack and distribute Thanksgiving boxes.  The only one we managed to catch in action was Jim Muir, shown here packing bags in the gymnasium.  The gym is lined with the flags of the tribes served by the Denver Indian Center.  Thank you to all who helped!

Holiday Celebration 2023

Here are some photos from our holiday celebration at the Black Bear Golf Club on November 30.  If you have photos to add, please send them to Susan Gustin!

Service -- It's a Rotary Tradition

If you're a Hank Williams fan (or even if you're not!), here are the words to Dan O'Neill's Rotary rendition of the Hank Williams song "Family Tradition" --  "It's a Rotary Tradition."

Did You Know? – Ways to Donate to the Foundation of the Rotary Club of Parker

All of the service projects our club undertakes are supported by funding from the Foundation of the Rotary Club of Parker.  When we support the Foundation, we help make service projects possible.

We have several fundraisers for the Foundation planned in 2024:

  • State of the Town (May)

  • Palisade peach sales (August)

  • Parker Uncorked wine festival (October)

With State of the Town and Parker Uncorked, we solicit sponsorships from local businesses.  You can get an idea of our current sponsors on the Home page of our club website.

As a Rotarian, in addition to supporting the fundraisers through your volunteering and soliciting of sponsorships, you can make direct donations to the Foundation through four mechanisms:

  • By Zelle (the preferred method)

  • By check

  • By credit card

  • With a vehicle donation.

For more information on donation mechanisms and links, go to the Foundation page on the club website.  Your donations to the Foundation are tax-deductible.

For more information on the Foundation itself – its bylaws and current Trustees – check out the Foundation page on the club website.
