Rotarian Hahn Addresses Club
Rotarian Roxy Hahn spoke at last week's meeting on Rotary International's long history of facilitating student youth exchange and the relative ease for a Rotary family to host an exchange student.  She encouraged our members to seriously consider the experience of hosting an exchange student.

Rotarian Hahn serves as the inbound Chair for the Youth Exchange Committee for District 5450.

Please see Mike Oldham's message in this bulletin for additional information on how you can help by hosting an exchange student.

Parker Police Representatives Address Club
Rotarian Jim Boyd, a Town of Parker Police volunteer, introduced Town of Parker Chief of Police David King, Deputy Chief Jim Tsurapas, Officer Casey Cashman and Officer Remi (a German short-haired pointer) .

Deputy Chief  Jim Tsurapas commented on several current efforts being conducted by the Town of Parker Police Department as an outreach to the town to enhance community relations.

Officer Remi, Parker Police’s drug interdiction dog, and his handler, Officer Casey Cashman, also were present at the meeting.  Officer Cashman said that, in the few short months that Remi has been on the police force, he has led to 7 felony arrests.

Chief Dave King said that two of the biggest issues facing the police department are mental health and drugs – specifically opiates.

Benefits of Being a Youth Exchange Host Family
Message From Lindy Blackburn
If you were at last Thursday's meeting you may remember me mentioning that our club will be dedicating the flag pole that we donated to the town of Parker on Veterans Day, November 11th.  That ceremony will start at 11 AM.  The flag pole has been installed in the vicinity of the Gazebo in O'Brien Park and looks great!

We are using the occasion of the flag pole dedication to initiate the First Annual Veterans Day observance for the Town of Parker.

As I mentioned on Thursday we need two sets of volunteers for the observance.  The first set are Rotarians to set up a coffee station and distribute coffee free of charge to any and all attendees.  Josh Rivero, owner of the FICA coffee house and Rotarian with the noon club, is donating the coffee.  That effort will entail picking up the coffee, setting up the coffee station, distributing the coffee and cleaning up after the event is over.

The second set are Rotarians to act as ushers, much as we do for the Memorial Day observance.  That effort would entail showing up a little earlier and directing guests to the designated sitting/standing areas and keeping lanes clear for the posting of the colors and for the raising of the flag.

If you are interested in helping with either effort please e-mail me at bandit68789@earthlink.net.  I will not be passing around clip boards so don't wait for our next meeting to sign up.

This is a wonderful opportunity to showcase Rotary and to highlight what our club is doing for our community.
