December 8 Double-Header: Club Assembly + Holiday Party

On Thursday, December 8 we work in the morning and then party in the evening!

Morning: Club Assembly

Our club assembly is during our regular club meeting.  We have two important items of business that require a quorum to complete:

  • Amendments to the club bylaws (proposed changes shown at the end of this Lamplighter)

  • Approval of the slate of officers for the 2023-2024 year (list shown at the end of this Lamplighter)

If you know that you will not be able to attend the club assembly in person on the morning of December 8, please email Club Secretary Sue Garwood (sgarwood2@gmail.com) BEFORE the time of the meeting and let her know if you wish to vote for/against these two items.

Evening: Party

Then in the evening we have our holiday party at Pradera, starting at 5:30.  Kelly Young reminds us that the charge is $10 for members and $35 for guests.  Please send your payment to the club treasurer, Hal Gustin, ASAP so that he does not have to invoice you later.  You can give Hal a check or Zelle the money to treasurer@parerrotary.org.  He will, reluctantly, accept cash, but please put it in an envelope labelled with your name and the purpose of the payment.

Service Opportunities December 2022
Mike Oldham reminds us that we can show our support for the Denver Indian Center two ways this month:
  • Bring an unwrapped gift for a child aged 1-18 OR a gift card to the club meeting on Thursday, December 8

  • Help wrap presents on December 14 at the Denver Indian Center (4407 Morrison Rd, Denver, CO 80219)

Questions or interest in carpooling on December 14?  Contact Mike (meoldham@msn.com).

The Parker Holiday Parade on Saturday morning December 10 is looking for volunteers.  Go to https://www.signupgenius.com/go/10c0f45a4a62ca4f9c07-hometown to sign up.

Club Assembly: Proposed Bylaws Changes December 2022

Here are the proposed changes to the club bylaws:

ARTICLE II, SECTION 3 – QUALIFICATIONS FOR THE OFFICE OF PRESIDENT. The President shall have served on a Rotary Club Board of Directors and/or as a District Committee Chair or officer for at least one full year.

ARTICLE XI, SECTION 3 – BUSINESS MEMBERSHIP [This replaces the Corporate Membership in the current bylaws]: This club will consider authorizing Business Memberships for any business entity in the Parker area.  The Business Membership program is detailed in Addendum 1 of this document.  Procedures to be used for election of a business may be established by Board Policies.

[Delete this section since we are deleting Corporate Memberships] ARTICLE XI, SECTION 6 – ELECTING A CORPORATE MEMBER: Procedures to be used for election of an honorary member may be established by Board Policies.

PROPOSED ADDENDUM 1: [This replaces the current Addendum 1 that spells out a Corporate Membership Program]
ADDENDUM 1
ROTARY CLUB OF PARKER BUSINESS MEMBERSHIP PROGRAM
A Business Membership in the Rotary Club of Parker consists of one management individual (Business Member) and up to two additional staff members (Business Associates) within the same business. All are subject to the candidates satisfying the criteria for membership. The Business Member is recognized as the Active Member attending meetings and participating in the Club’s business and activities.  This membership type allows for community input from key community employees and for an increased number of individuals working on Rotary projects.

Financial Investment: Dues are established annually by the Board of Directors.
