Student of the Month for Ponderosa High School 2019-20

Congratulations to Lily Peterson, the Student of the Month for Ponderosa High School!  Lily plays both violin in the orchestra and percussion in the Ponderosa marching band and other ensembles.  She has served the Ponderosa community on Student Council, on the Link Crew and with Wish Week. (Click here for an article on this year’s Wish Week at Ponderosa, which has just concluded.)   She has received academic letters all four years of high school. In her free time, Lily likes to do Western pleasure riding. Lily plans to attend Montana State University to study criminal psychology.

Congratulations to Alexandra Chihoski, the January Student of the Month for Ponderosa High School.  Alexandra is currently student council president at Ponderosa, and has also served on the Link Crew and with Sources of Strength.  She plays tennis on the JV team and enjoys running as a hobby.  She has also achieved an academic letter all four years of high school.  Alexandra plans to study nursing at Creighton University with the goal of being a physician's assistant some day..

Congratulations to Calvin Silvius, the Ponderosa High School Student of the Month for December. He was joined at the meeting by his parents Sheli and Mark Silvius and coaches Jaron Cohen and Randy Huff.  Calvin has a demonstrated commitment to service by earning a community service letter at Ponderosa with 290 hours served in a wide variety of projects.  He is a three-year varsity letterman on the football team and was selected by coaches and players as a team captain; he also lettered in basketball and track.  He has achieved academic letters for two years. Calvin plans to study business at a Colorado university.

Avery Hendrick has had a varied career of service in high school, including working as an election judge on Election Day and leading a group of elementary students through a three-day outdoor education camp at Stone Canyon.  She has earned the Gold Award in Girl Scouts.  Avery has run cross country and track all four years of high school.  Avery is ranked third in a class of 329.  Her particular passion is for writing: she has taken creative writing three times in high school and participated in National Novel Writing Month since eight grade.   She currently serves as an editor for the Ponderosa student newspaper.   She hopes to attend college at Northwestern or NYU to study journalism, dramatic or creative writing.  She would eventually like to work as a reporter or editor for a magazine or newspaper.  Best wishes, Avery!

Congratulations to Ponderosa Student of the Month for October Kayla Fairweather!  Kayla has extensive participation in service activities, including currently serving as president of National Honor Society at Ponderosa.  She is involved in the Juvenile Diabetes Foundation as a youth ambassador.  She is on her way to earning the Gold Award in Girl Scouts and has been involved in various mission projects.  Kayla also runs cross country and track.  She is currently ranked number 1 in her class of 330. 
Kayla plans to study biomedical science and psychology.

The Rotary Club of Parker is happy to honor Austin Ainsworth as the Student of the Month for September from Ponderosa High School.  Austin helped found the engineering club at Ponderosa and has achieved academic letters in his sophomore, junior and senior years.  He is a particularly well-round student with interests in both athletics (football, volleyball and track) and art (National Art Honor Society).  Austin has served the community with a variety of volunteer activities, including summer camps and robotics camps for Douglas County Library, and the Parker Task Force.  He plans to study mechanical engineering in college.  Congratulations, Austin!
