Many poor health conditions in India are in part caused by the lack of safe drinking water, sanitation facilities or hygiene-related knowledge and information. Further, on the west coast of India in the state of Maharashtra, there is no precipitation at all for nine months out of the year.

The villagers walk hours every day to retrieve water. Even after such long walks, much of the year the only water available is stagnant and contaminated, shared by humans and animals alike - a persistent health hazard.

Our Rotary Club of Parker, in conjunction with several other Colorado clubs and a club in Bombay, has for 2 consecutive years built wells for villagers in Maharashtra, through International Matching Grants spearheaded by our club.
