Our Chaparral High School Interact Club has taken on a service project for an organization that partners with community and county human services agencies to provide backpacks filled with essential items for children and youth who are in transition into out-of-home or foster care.  Packs of Hope has served over 7,000 children and youth since 2008 from the Denver Metro area (Arapahoe, Boulder, Denver, Douglas, El Paso, Jefferson, and Weld Counties) at no cost to the county or the child.
The Interact students are collecting books to present to the organization.  A book will be included in each backpack in addition to clothing and toiletry items so that a child has some belongings after being removed from an unhealthy or unsafe home situation.
Let’s help our Interact Club by bringing a new book(s) to our Club meeting on March 1 and 8.  New books should be for preschool through high school age groups.  Our students are looking forward to our partnership on this Rotary project!
