Help Grant a Child's Wish -- Let's Fill the Claw Machine!

Here's a fun way to serve!

There is a claw machine at the offices of Make a Wish where kids who are there to discuss their wish have the chance to ease the visit by choosing a toy from the machine.  We get to help fill the machine with toys for kids of all ages.  Need ideas?  Check out the photo above!  The only criteria is that the claw in this machine is not huge, so the toys have to be from 3"-6" wide.

Bring your contributions to a Rotary meeting by August 28.  Let's fill the claw machine to overflowing!

Questions?  Contact John Huffaker.

Ponies with Purpose

Here's another fun way to serve, by attending Affinity Ranch's fall fundraiser.  Here's more information from their website:

"Join us for the inaugural Ponies with Purpose fundraising gala on Thursday, September 25, 2025, from 6:00 to 9:00 PM at the stunning DCSD Legacy Campus Ballroom in Parker, CO. This enchanting evening will celebrate the transformative impact of Affinity Ranch, where individuals with differing abilities find empowerment and joy through equine-assisted therapies and community support. Guests will indulge in a delightful dinner while participating in both a live and silent auction, featuring unique items and experiences that will inspire generosity and goodwill. The excitement will continue with a paddle raise, giving attendees a chance to support a worthy cause. As we gather in unity and compassion, we will raise essential funds to expand our programs, ensuring that every individual who seeks our services can experience the magic of Affinity Ranch. Together, we will create a future where all can flourish—one pony at a time."

If you wish to attend as a participant at a table sponsored by the Rotary Club of Parker, please contact Bob Forbes.

2025 District Conference

The conference is designed to help attendees Unite for Good as they connect and form relationships with members across the district. This will be a high-energy event with two amazing keynote speakers, breakout sessions designed to expose you to new ideas, the House of Friendship featuring club projects as well as Rotarian-owned businesses.  There will be breakfast, lunch, and a mocktail reception. We are also bringing back the flag ceremony with our inbound Youth Exchange students and District Awards.

District 5450 WASH Symposium

Just two weeks after the District Conference is the District 5450 WASH symposium.  WASH stands for water, sanitation and hygiene -- traditional concerns of Rotary clubs around the world.

This year's symposium is Saturday, October 25, 2025 from 8:00 a.m. – 2:15 p.m. at the CSU Spur Building (4777 National Western Drive, Denver, CO 80216)

The theme is DRIVING IMPACT: A Systems Approach.  Discover how systems thinking can transform water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH) outcomes across communities.

We’re thrilled to welcome Charles Fishman, acclaimed author of The Big Thirst: The Secret Life and Turbulent Future of Water, as our keynote speaker. Fishman brings a compelling perspective on the global water crisis—rooted in research, storytelling, and urgency.

The day features engaging panels, hands-on workshops, and collaborative conversations designed to equip you with tools to scale impact through a systems lens. Breakout sessions include:

  • Urban-Rural WASH Systems
  • Partnerships and Fundraising for WASH
  • Healthy Schools & Institutions, Healthy Communities
  • Future/Proofing WASH Systems

Connect with sector leaders, innovators, and changemakers in a space designed to spark solutions and deepen partnerships.

Be part of the movement to build more resilient, equitable WASH systems—locally and globally.

Decks Part 2

Saturday, July 26 was a gorgeous day, and a large crew of Rotarians was working at Affinity Ranch.  Most were putting finishing touches on the deck surfaces for the therapy cabins, while another group worked in the sensory garden.  Click here for more photos of the event.

Now for the Decks...

A great group of Rotarians gathered at Affinity Ranch on Saturday, July 12 to begin the process of re-attaching the decks to the cabins.  The decks that had been removed from the cabins before they were relocated to Affinity were loaded up and moved into place.  Next comes the  process of attaching the decks and making everything safe and stable.
