  • Start the morning with service by prepping paths to the counselling cabins at Affinity Ranch.  For more info and to sign up, click here.
  • Then for fun, Rocky Vista University and its student Rotary Club are inviting our club and community to their Fall Harvest Hop Jamboree, from 2:00-6:00.  There will be music, food and games.  It’s a family friendly event to build their community connections.  No RSVP needed.  The location is the south lawn of the RVU campus 8401 South Chambers.  Click here to view the flyer.
  • Then for more fun, Rotarians from our club and the noon club are hosting a trunk at the downtown Parker Trunk or Treat event, from 2:00-5:00 p.m.  For more information, click hereNote -- Adults can attend this event without reservations, but if you wish to bring a child to take part, you have to reserve a spot.

Fireside Chat -- You're Invited!

Yes, YOU are invited to a Fireside Chat on Tuesday, October 21 from 6:30-8:00 p.m.  Fireside Chats are an informal way for newer members to chat with longer-term members about how to get the most out of their Rotary experience.  Click here to register and to get information on how to get to Bob Forbes's home.  Questions?  Contact Bob Forbes.  The photo is from a previous Fireside Chat a few years back.

Be a Hero -- Donate Blood!

After hearing a presentation from Vitalant on October 2, Ced Woodard and Kelly Young challenge us to become heroes by making a blood donation.  If you aren't able to donate blood yourself, you can also become a hero by signing up a friend or family member to donate blood.  Click here to make an appointment to donate blood with Vitalant -- there's a convenient permanent donation site right here in Parker.

Heroes will be named at the club social on October 30.  Just let Ced or Kelly know that you have donated blood or made an appointment to donate blood!

District Governor Visit

One of the highlights of our weekly meetings is when the District Governor pays us a visit.  Current District Governor Cindy Rold came to our meeting on October 9.  She challenged us to make a point of doing three things every month:

  • Check in with someone, by whatever means feels most comfortable
  • Invite someone to do something -- not just to attend a Rotary meeting, but to have a coffee, go for a walk -- let that person know that they hve been seen
  • Appreciate someone.
If you think of the acronym created by the first letters, it gives a whole new meaning to CIA!
District 5450 WASH Symposium

The District 5450 WASH symposium is coming up on Saturday, October 25, 2025 from 8:00 a.m. – 2:15 p.m. at the CSU Spur Building (4777 National Western Drive, Denver, CO 80216).  WASH stands for water, sanitation and hygiene -- these are long-standing concerns of Rotary clubs around the world.

The theme is DRIVING IMPACT: A Systems Approach.  Discover how systems thinking can transform water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH) outcomes across communities.

We’re thrilled to welcome Charles Fishman, acclaimed author of The Big Thirst: The Secret Life and Turbulent Future of Water, as our keynote speaker. Fishman brings a compelling perspective on the global water crisis—rooted in research, storytelling, and urgency.

The day features engaging panels, hands-on workshops, and collaborative conversations designed to equip you with tools to scale impact through a systems lens. Breakout sessions include:

  • Urban-Rural WASH Systems
  • Partnerships and Fundraising for WASH
  • Healthy Schools & Institutions, Healthy Communities
  • Future/Proofing WASH Systems

Connect with sector leaders, innovators, and changemakers in a space designed to spark solutions and deepen partnerships.

Be part of the movement to build more resilient, equitable WASH systems—locally and globally.

Ponies with Purpose

Our club had a table at the Ponies with Purpose fundraiser for Affinity Ranch on September 25.  Affinity Ranch is one of our club's signature partnerships in terms of community service.  Could there be a cuter photo op than to pose with miniature horses?!  For more images from the event, click here.

Project CURE

We are grateful to partner with medical students at Rocky Vista University to support Project CURE with an evening of sorting donated medical supplies.  Here is the crew from August 2025.  For more information on Project CURE and its mission, click here.  Our next volunteer date is Monday, October 27Click here for more information and to sign up.
