Update on Project CURE Volunteering
We have had a standing commitment with Project CURE to volunteer the fourth Monday evening of the month.  Those arrangements have been disrupted because Norma, the woman who had been our guide when we volunteered, died unexpectedly in August.  We mourn her death because she was a wonderful guide and coordinator for our group.  In addition, her death has left a huge hole in Project CURE’s volunteer coordinators.  As of this moment it is still uncertain whether Project CURE will have a coordinator available to work with us this coming Monday, October 24.  Please be on the lookout for an email from Tricia Fahey to let us know if we’re on or off for October 24.
Getting Social for Polio Plus
You are invited to a social event with the noon club (Cherry Creek Valley Rotary Club of Parker) on Thursday, October 27 at Takoda Tavern (12365 Pine Bluffs Way, Parker), starting at 5:00 p.m.  Significant others are welcome; each picks up their own tab.

In addition to enjoying fellowship with other Rotarians, this event is a fundraiser for PolioPlus.  Make a donation and get the chance to spin the wheel to win fabulous prizes!

Report from RYLA 2022

At our October 13 meeting we welcomed two students who the club had sponsored for RYLA and Young RYLA in summer 2022: Jackson (Jack) Coleman from Ponderosa High School and Anna Finkbiner from Sagewood Middle School.  It was wonderful to hear their glowing reports of the experience!  Jack and Anna are pictured here with their families and Rotarian Sue Garwood, who coordinated the selection process for the Rotary Club of Parker.

Every year the club sponsors a number of high-school and middle-school students for RYLA (Rotary Youth Leadership Awards)which enables the students to attend without cost to their families.  RYLA is a 6-day summer program to teach youth leadership skills; it typically takes place at a camp in the Rocky Mountains.  You can be part of the process of spreading the word about  RYLA – do you have kids,  grandkids, friends, neighbors who would be good candidates?  Let them know!  Information about RYLA 2023 will be available in the new year at https://www.rmryla.org

Welcome, Scott Dishong

We welcome Scott Dishong as a member of our club!  Scott is the CEO of Make-a-Wish Colorado.  He has past experience with Rotary and its community service programs.  Scott sought out a place where he and his family could develop deep ties to the community, and has found that here in Parker.  Be sure to introduce yourself to Scott!

Connecting at the "Bored" Meeting

Join your fellow Rotarians for libations and snacks at Takoda Tavern (12365 Pine Bluffs Way, Parker 80134) most Thursday afternoons starting about 4:00 p.m.  It’s a chance to get to know each other in a casual setting while we solve the problems of the world!  All are welcome.
